| The 14thAnnual International Post Graduate Research Symposium [IPGRS] took place on Saturday March 5, 2011 at the Midwest Podiatry Conference in Chicago, IL. Each year residents and fellows present their research to a captive audience of students, residents, fellows, and practicing podiatrists. This year’s event was well received as 20 abstracts from 18 residents/fellows were presented on a variety of topics in foot and ankle surgery and medicine. I was very proud of the high level of research that was presented at the symposium this year. Producing evidence based research is the next great challenge our profession faces. Presentation of a research abstract at the IPGRS provided both the resident/fellow and their institution public recognition of the effort that goes in to the discovery of new knowledge.Monetary awards were given to the First, Second and Third place abstracts at a luncheon following the IPGRS. All presenters received a certificate acknowledging their accomplishment of acceptance of their abstract for presentation.
I would like to congratulate the winners and give them the recognition on a job well done. 1st Place – Dr. Sarah Dickey 2nd Place – Dr. Nick Smith 3rd Place – Dr. Wenjay Sung I am looking forward to hearing the next generation of research through the abstract presented at the 2012 IPGRS.
